Gard use the GJD GSM add on unit to communicate alarm events to the owner of the property. This
handy device is used when you don't have a telephone landline in your home. It may also be used if you are worried that the landline you have is vulnerable to tampering by criminals.
Note that this device is great for sending text and voices
messages to your phone directly but is no good if you wish to connect to a
monitoring station. In that case you would require the
HKC gsm dialler.
When the alarm system is triggered the dialler uses the mobile phone networks to send a text message and/or pre-recorded voice message to up to 9 phones.
The GSM add on can work using a prepaid SIM card which can be purchased in any
O2 or Vodafone shop and you can keep track of your call credit or top up online
with visa or laser - thus avoiding a monthly bill pay account.
You can record your own voice messages to convey either alarm or panic attack. You can also program a text message to be sent. A typical text message sent might be:
Burglar Alarm 33 Main St Terenure.
At present we are charging €260 for this GSM add on device in the case of new alarm installations
carried out by ourselves.
If we didn't install your alarm then it also works with most
older alarm systems but this will incur a call out and service fee of €100
giving a total price of €360.
